Nasva sits near Kuressaare on the southern shore of Saaremaa, Estonia's largest island. The bay here is sheltered from the north and east, creating flat to very light-chop conditions when southerly and south-westerly winds prevail. The shallow, sandy bottom is safe for learners and practice sessions.
Saaremaa as a whole is one of the windier parts of Estonia due to its exposed position in the Baltic Sea. Nasva benefits from this, with the local bay channeling south-westerly winds reliably through the main season. Spring and autumn tend to be windier than midsummer, which can be light.
Kuressaare, the island's main town just a few kilometres away, has good amenities including hotels, restaurants and a well-preserved medieval castle. Saaremaa is a popular tourist destination and the island's natural beauty — dunes, juniper forests, coastal meadows — adds to the appeal of riding here.
Kiteboarders should be aware that boat traffic can occur in the bay and that some areas near the shoreline may be restricted during the tourist season. The island is reachable by ferry from Virtsu on the mainland, or by air to Kuressaare Airport.
