Mändjala Beach stretches along the south-western coast of Saaremaa and is directly exposed to winds coming from the south and south-west across the Baltic Sea. This open exposure gives it more consistent and stronger wind conditions compared to the sheltered bays further east on the island.
The water at Mändjala can range from relatively flat on lighter wind days to choppy with small breaking waves when the wind picks up. Intermediate riders can enjoy powered freeride sessions, while advanced riders can work on wave riding and jumping in stronger conditions.
The beach is popular in summer and has some basic facilities including parking and camping nearby. It is close enough to Kuressaare to access restaurants and accommodation, making it a convenient base for a kite trip to Saaremaa.
As with other spots on Saaremaa, windy days are most frequent in spring (May–June) and early autumn (August–September). Midsummer can bring light winds, so checking forecasts carefully is advisable before making the trip.
