Palanga is Lithuania's best-known seaside resort — a long, wide white-sand Baltic beach with reliable wind and proper wave conditions. It is one of the most common places in the country for both amateurs and professionals to ride the sea rather than the lagoon.
Summer brings thermal sea breezes and the country's busiest beach scene; autumn storms can build the Baltic to two to three metres, rewarding confident wave riders. Because it is open coast, conditions are less forgiving than the Curonian Lagoon spots — better for intermediates and up.
The town's famous pier, botanical park and lively promenade make it an easy place to combine a kite trip with a classic Lithuanian beach holiday.
Prices: Open-sea conditions; check local kite zones, busy in peak summer. Full wetsuit required.
