Kintai is a small, old fishing village on the eastern shore of the Curonian Lagoon, between Svencelė and Cape Ventė. Smooth, shallow water and prevailing westerly winds make it a quietly excellent learning and freestyle spot, away from the busier hubs.
It punches above its size for instruction: the local Kintai kite centre is the only place in the Baltic States that trains kiteboarding instructors and assistant instructors to the IKO methodology, run by experienced IKO-certified staff.
Forest-backed and fronted by fish restaurants, with sea eagles overhead, it is a peaceful base for a Curonian Lagoon kite trip.
Prices: Home to the Baltics' IKO instructor-training centre. Cold-water wetsuit needed most of the season.
