Margherita di Savoia sits on the flat Tavoliere plain coastline of northern Puglia, facing the Adriatic. Long, uninterrupted sandy beaches make it easy to launch and land kites, and the relatively shallow offshore profile means the water stays manageable. It is one of the more accessible Adriatic kite spots for riders of all levels.
The Maestrale (northwesterly) and Tramontane (northerly) are the dominant wind directions, and combined with strong afternoon sea breezes in summer, the spot has decent reliability through the spring-to-autumn season. Strong northerly winds can push up short, punchy waves that are fun for intermediate and advanced riders.
The town is known for its famous salt pans — one of the largest in Europe — which add a unique flat landscape around the riding area. There are kite schools and rental facilities available. The town has good infrastructure for visitors with a variety of accommodation and restaurants.
