Lago di Lesina stretches for nearly 22 km along the northern Gargano coast and is separated from the Adriatic by a thin strip of dunes. It is one of the largest coastal lagoons in Italy and remains relatively undiscovered by international kiteboarders, making it a peaceful alternative to busier spots.
The water is very shallow across large areas of the lagoon — ideal for beginners who want the security of being able to stand up. Wind is driven by regional thermal patterns and can be lighter than coastal Adriatic spots, so larger kite sizes are often needed. Foiling has become increasingly popular here due to the glassy conditions.
The surrounding landscape is flat and remote, with pine forests and wetlands. The village of Lesina is a short distance away with basic amenities. There is minimal commercial kite infrastructure, so riders should be self-sufficient.
