Løkken is one of the most popular beach destinations on the northwest coast of Jutland, facing the Skagerrak. The beach is vast — several kilometres long and very wide at low tide — and predominantly sandy. Westerly and northwesterly winds are most common and produce a cross-shore angle that suits kiteboarding well.
The beach is famous for allowing cars to drive on it (in designated zones), which kiters need to be very aware of when launching and riding near the waterline. Designated kite zones are posted, and it is important to check the current local rules. The wide open beach provides plenty of space when everyone is considerate.
Løkken is a lively summer resort with good restaurant and accommodation options. Outside of July and August it is much quieter. The spot suits beginners and intermediates on lighter days, while stronger autumn winds attract more experienced riders.
