Blåvand is a popular Danish seaside resort sitting at the westernmost point of Jutland, where the North Sea and the Wadden Sea approaches meet. The beach here is wide, flat, and sandy, stretching for kilometres with the famous Blåvand Lighthouse as a landmark. On westerly and southwesterly winds, the swell can build to sizeable wave faces suitable for wave kiting.
Wind is reliably strong at this exposed headland, with consistent westerlies through spring, summer, and autumn. The beach is wide enough that beginners can take lessons in calmer conditions, though the North Sea's power means intermediate and advanced riders get the most out of the spot on bigger days. Watch for beach traffic in the peak summer months.
Blåvand village is a well-established holiday destination with holiday homes, restaurants, and a supermarket. It becomes very busy with Danish and German tourists in July and August. The Ho Bugt bay to the south provides slightly calmer water on certain wind directions. Esbjerg Airport is about 40 km away.
